Balmshell Lip Gloss

Balmshell Lip Gloss

Lip gloss is the modern woman’s alternative to lipstick. A little more sexy and a little less serious. Balmshell Lip Gloss, no you didn’t hear me wrong not Bombshell, but Balmshell Lip Gloss is a gloss that combines the concept of lip balm and lip gloss… sounds like twice as many perks!

With aisles and aisles of gloss something has to stand out about the packaging right? This gloss/balm definitely has that covered. There are two ends; one with the gloss which is clear and you can see the color of the gloss and the other end has a floating illustration. The shades are creatively named, such as Shoe Fetish and Curse of the Purse, which create the story line of the illustration. You can tilt the gloss tube to move the character in the illustration. Sounds complicated, but it’s really not. And then you can unscrew the end of the illustration and put it on a key chain! Cute I suppose. Or just use the gloss without the illustration (maybe a little more boring).

Some of the other perks this high-end conditioning lip gloss offers are things like no artificial preservatives or parabens and it is perfume free. It does contain lanolin oil and jojoba oil, all things to help in the balm aspect. So now you know what is and isn’t in this gloss, time to see what it can actually do.

I applied it alone, without lip liner or lipstick, because that’s usually how I wear my gloss on a daily basis. I didn’t like the lack of perfume because it smelled kind of funny to me. It is a sheer shade, with nice shine but not a lot of color (and I do prefer some more color in my glosses). There is definitely more of a balm feel in the sense that it is not as tacky as your usuals (that means less probability of your hair sticking to your lips). I will say after a few hours, like any gloss, it did wear away and since the color was sheer to start off with, that was gone too. But what remained were some sparkles and glitter (something I really don’t like).

The tube is lots of fun and very creative. But that’s probably the most exciting part about this whole Balmshell experience. That said, I’ll give it 3.5 stars on The Cos View Scale.
