Too Faced Lip of Luxury Lipstick

Too Faced is best known for their primers, their Shadow Insurance being one of the most well-known. If they got that right, chances are some of their other products are a hit too.
The concept of a luxurious lipstick is not a new one, but Too Faced definitely tried to take a new approach by not only infusing their Lip of Luxury with shea butter, like we’ve seen on so many lip product ingredient lists, but with champagne. Then they packaged it up in a metallic pink case and threw a big faux jewel on the cap. If that’s not enough to convince you that this lipstick is luxurious and uber glam, they gave the shades sexed up names like “Centerfold” and “Sex Kitten”. Marketing schemes might get me in the door (I admit it), but only quality products make me stay.
Available in not many more than ten shades, choices are limited but that has never stopped me from falling in love with a product. Unfortunately, I didn’t quite love this lipstick. I didn’t find the intense moisture I was supposed to when I applied it, and staying power wasn’t very strong at all.
A great way to extend staying power of a stick (should you fall in love with a shade or formula that doesn’t like to stick around) is to line your lips with either a lip liner that matches the color of your lips or the color of lipstick you’re wearing, then color in your entire mouth with that liner before applying your lipstick. Don’t want to line your lips? Apply one coat of lipstick, then take a tissue and blot your lips. Yes, I realize doing this will take off most of the product but the next step is to go back and apply another coat over the first.
While I appreciate the attempt at luxury, I don’t think I’ll be living in this Lip of Luxury.
