Urban Decay Lip Liner
Lip liner is a product that the younger generations of us women don’t really use. A lot of us just like to throw on some lip gloss and often don’t even wear or try lipstick, let alone liner. Ladies, lip liner is an excellent addition to not only your lipstick but also your gloss. The right shade can really keep your gloss or stick on for longer and help define your lips. The Urban Decay Lip Liner is a decent liner to try out for newbies or veterans alike.
The lip liner comes in a pencil form, just like those #2’s we used in school, but a little more fun. It shouts trendy and hip–the pencil is a dark grey color with a funky pattern on it. I usually lean towards the self sharpening type of lip liner because they tend to be a bit softer in texture and go on easier. But you will come across some great pencil-style lip liners. Make sure you keep a good sharpener handy, especially when you travel. From having used Urban Decay eye liners in the pencil form and really experiencing how soft they were, I was anticipating that the lip liner would be similar, so I had high hopes.
I apply my lips at the very end, right when I’m about to leave the house or even in the car (and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one). I first use the lip liner, and I like to start in the middle of my upper lip, make sure to get that part perfect and symmetrical, going from the center outwards. I then do the same on my bottom lip, working from the center outwards. Once I get the right shape (which by the way can be easily corrected with a concealer and your concealer brush if you make a mistake), I usually like to fill in my whole lip. I do this because I don’t like for there to be a darker line when I apply my gloss over top and it really helps my lip color stay in place everywhere, not just the edges. Another reason is that when my lip gloss wears away I like to have some color on my lips still from the liner. I instantly saw the color of the liner being very rich and deep (so I didn’t have to go over the same line repeatedly, which is always a plus). It was also amazingly smooth and there was no tugging or pressing necessary when I applied the liner. And the pigment in this liner is great! So then I applied a complimentary shade of gloss over it but you can apply lipstick with or without gloss on top of the lipstick. Do what works for you, and what you feel comfortable—no rules here.
By the way, this liner does have Vitamin E in it which is a great antioxidant and helps to keep your lips moist and soft and I think has to do with the amazing texture of the liner.
As my lip gloss wore away my lip liner also did. Now this is what this liner is “suppose” to do. I personally didn’t really like this because I like for some of the color to kind of stain my lips which is why I do fill in my whole lip. I think that the moistness of this lip liner has something to do with the longevity. Since I just moved, and I have not joined a gym yet… not to mention its super duper cold –so I’m not really going to go exercise outside (and maybe I’m making a few excuses,) I wasn’t able to put one of this lip liners promises to test. It apparently should pass dancing/yoga/ running sweat tests…so if anyone does try to go running or to the gym with lip liner on, let me know how it goes.
The texture, pigment and application felt great but I wish it just lasted throughout the day…would have saved me some trouble and one less thing to dig around for in my purse! 4.0 stars on The Cos View scale.
